House of Vans Unveils An Immersive Art Experience with Chaz Bear and Mad Alchemy

By: Allison Lapinski

Next Friday, January 24th, House of Vans will open its doors for a unique art experience featuring a DJ set by Chaz Bear of Toro y Moi. Toro y Moi’s indie-meets-chillwave has received quite a bit of attention since releasing two albums in 2019, namely “Outer Peace.” In addition to Chaz’s set, House of Vans will transform from a skate space to an industrial gallery in order to showcase a curated analog light show by Mad Alchemy.

Outside of his active music career that has spanned across the last decade, Chaz has also expressed himself as a visual artist. If you have seen a Toro Y Moi live show, you might have noticed the attention to detail within the lights and stage design. In 2016, Bear founded Company Studio, which aims to create collaborative spaces between both self-initiated and commissioned art and design projects. The Oakland-based studio also serves as the in-house visual team for Bear’s record label, Company Records.

This event will surely be an unparalleled experience that is open and free to the public. RSVP here and prepare yourself to enter a psychedelic and attentively designed evening away from the January chill.
