A chilly Monday night didn’t stop Chicagoans from pulling up to Schubas Tavern. New York City’s BODEGA took the stage with special guests The Wants and Chicago’s own Jungle Green.
With Jungle Green kicking things off, The Wants followed full of excitement as it was their first performance in Chicago. Featuring two members who also play in BODEGA, The Wants brought their unique blend of synth-pop and post-punk elements to the stage. Prior to their performance, only three singles have been released. However, The Wants provided a great sneak peak at their upcoming debut album: Container. The record has been in the works for about three years and Container is set to be released on March 13th on Counsel Records. Take a peek at their latest single The Motor.
Taking the stage to close the evening was BODEGA. Their angular post-punk sound isn’t anything new, however the five-piece ensemble makes their sound their own. Featuring two percussionists, both with minimalistic setups, space was given to watch BODEGA express themselves during their one of a kind performance. While bouncing around stage and expressing themselves, BODEGA has proven that they are one of the tightest bands in the scene.
