Sports at Lincoln Hall

Despite the heavy snowfall, fans gathered at Lincoln Hall to watch an incredible performance by the band Sports. The show was opened by J Ember, an artist from Canada who is joining Sports for this leg of their tour. He played a slowed-down rendition of Someday by The Strokes that almost brought me to tears.

In between sets, fans were impatiently awaiting Sports' performance at Lincoln Hall for the first time. The experience of their performance as a whole was quite the phenomenon. I would describe their music as sci-fi dream pop, and their performance as well as songs from their new album “Get A Good Look” definitely further bolsters that label.

The lead singer, Cale Chronister, gave off the look and stage presence of a young Noel Gallagher but with a sound akin to MGMT.  His endearing performance on stage combined with the heavy dream-pop synths in their music was captivating. The aesthetics of their sound combined with their performance made Sports a 10/10 concert.
