WLUW is Hiring!

WLUW is looking to hire four Loyola students for positions here at the station. The positions include Music Director, Programming Director, Promotions Director, and Production Director. Descriptions for each position and information on how to apply can be found below.
MUSIC DIRECTOR:
WLUW is seeking a current Loyola student to join executive staff as a Music Director. The role of Music Director oversees our music library, on-air rotation, as well as weekly music charts.
Every week MD’s listen to new releases and add the best to our on-air rotation and music library to keep it fresh. As an MD, you will chart these and our weekly top thirty to the NACC.
As an MD you will also be working directly with labels, radio promoters, and artists via email and phone on new releases to determine if they are a good fit for WLUW’s sound. You will also be using these contacts to coordinate interviews with artists and coordinate festival coverage for Pitchfork, Riot Fest, Lolla, and more. Other responsibilities include organizing and publishing articles on the station’s blog, and reviewing albums.
This position requires strong communication skills, knowledge of the station’s format sound, and strong motivation to meet weekly deadlines.
To qualify, must:
- Be comfortable emailing labels, promo companies and talent with a level of professionalism
- Have some experience using website software such as WordPress
- Some experience using Adobe Audition for editing interviews
- Ability to meet strict weekly deadlines

PROGRAM DIRECTOR:
WLUW is currently seeking a current Loyola student to join executive staff as our Program Director. This is a time intensive job with responsibilities including: Interviewing and training new student DJs, crafting the quarterly on-air schedule, organizing on-air sessions with bands, leading tours and assisting other staff members in show and festival coverage when available.
To qualify, must:
- Be comfortable interfacing with students, Community members and other studio visitors
- Ability to be on call for questions/studio issues
- Have strong organization and written communication skills
- DJ experience not required, but preferred

PRODUCTION DIRECTOR:
We are currently looking for a student interested in filling the WLUW Production Director position. If you really dig production work and have some audio editing expertise, feel free to send your resume to wluwproduction@gmail.com. You would be responsible for the following:
- Producing and editing audio content for WLUW, including PSAs, promos, station IDs, and underwriting announcements
- Uploading audio content for airplay on WLUW
- Submitting audio award entries for various organizations like CBI, IBA, and IBS
- Maintaining studio equipment and training students on using the equipment
- Seeking new underwriting opportunities and maintaining current clients
- Working alongside the WLUW exec staff as needed with various tasks
- Assisting WLUW staff with on-campus and off-campus events and festivals
- Experience with editing software such as Adobe Audition and Audacity is strongly preferred

PROMOTIONS DIRECTOR:
WLUW is currently seeking a current Loyola student to join executive staff as our Promotions Director. This is a communications based role with responsibilities including, but not limited to:
- Keeping up with email exchanges between local venues and other parties seeking WLUW promotional work
- Running the station’s social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.)
- Coordinating and running giveaways for concerts, vinyl, etc.
- Communicating to fellow Exec Staff members on necessary things, such as Production Staff for on-air promos for upcoming events, Music Director for interviews and livestreams, and Studio Department for live sessions
- Requesting press coverage during festival season (Pitchfork, Riot Fest, Pygmalion, etc.)
- Having occasional meetings with on-campus organizations to collaborate for events
- Managing the WLUW GroupMe for writing opportunities
- Attending events and shows repping WLUW, as well as creating show coverage
- Creating proposals for show or event presenting, when requested to send to venues
- Tabling at both on and off campus events
- Brainstorming ideas for events and promotional tactics to boost listenership and donations
- Designing promotional items, logos, graphics and posters (and printing from the Loyola print shop)
