From TikTok to Center Stage: Pink Pantheress Lights Up Chicago

London’s Pink Panthress arrived in Chicago April 17 to perform for Panthress’ sold out ‘Capable of Love’ tour. She is most widely known for her collaboration with Brooklyn’s Ice Spice through their song “Boys a liar Pt. 2,” remix to its predecessor, “Boys a liar.” Her popularity through TikTok and viral sounds has led her to stages such as Metro Chicago.  Panthress is touring in celebration of her debut album ‘Heaven Knows.’ Through the first leg of her tour, she was accompanied by Atlanta native Bktherula. The pair met in 2020 and have been in connection since. Chicago was Bk’s last show with Panthress for the duration of the tour.

Bktherula redefined the definition of what it means to be an opener. Not only did she bring an immense amount of energy on stage, she made sure to have audience and backstage involvement. Some of Bk’s crew were on stage with her dancing to her hit songs including, “Santanny.” Though, she is on tour following the March release of her album, ‘BVL5 P2.’ She also sang her latest single release “CRAYON.” The benevolent nature of her performance was enhanced when she asked the crowd, “Who wants to get up here and twerk?” As beautiful fans ran to the stage you could feel the air intensifying. 4 people danced on stage to Bk’s song, “BACK.” The experience was incomparable.

After a short intermission, Pink Pantheress was ready to take the stage. Typically, it would be difficult to know what to expect at any concert, but the production value of the set was especially delightful. What were once blanket-covered objects became a drum set, dj booth, and the largest mirror I’ve ever seen! With her signature purse on her shoulder, Pinkpanthress tip toed out on stage after the accompaniment of a narrator. She began complementing her fans in the audience, who she loved in the most reciprocal way.

At one point she stated, “Being in Chicago is like being with friends. I don’t have to do too much.” The symbiotic love between the audience and her was felt throughout the show as her fans greeted her, giving her signs and celebrating her birthday two days before the actual day. She even went as far as to address one of her fans saying, “This outfit is insane!” Everyone clapped and encouraged the venue in its totality. Her fans did not disappoint as most of those around me knew almost every word to every song of her set! This was a concert full of love, and I felt every moment.
Panthress played some of her hit singles including, “Pain,”“Attracted To You,”“Passion,” and “Another Life,” and more. After leaving the stage, she received an inevitable standing ovation and invitation for an encore! Pantheress came back to the stage for her encore song, “Nice to meet you.”
