Ear Shakes Up The Epiphany Center

Fans of the New York electronic duo ear broke through the barricade. Twice. On Thursday night, Jonah Paz and Yaelle Avtan performed a mix of fan favorites and tracks from their album, Rumspringa, at the Epiphany Center for the Arts. The duo jerked and “tweaked” to every track, inviting fans to dance with them.

Quiet Light, the moniker of Texas-based singer Riya Mahesh, opened for Ear. The audience cheered and jumped along to Mahesh’s dreamy blend of folk and indie rock.

Paz and Avtan interacted with the crowd throughout the show, beckoning fans closer and asking if they should turn the volume up. Halfway through the show, the duo left the stage and climbed over the barricade to dance with the audience.

At one point, Paz asked everyone to step back (at the security team’s behest); the barricade was at risk of collapsing because of the moshing. “Mosh backwards,” Paz said jokingly. Still, some rowdy fans broke through the metal fence anyway.

Paz and Avtan’s strange stage presence left the audience chanting for “one more song!” Though there was no encore, fans left the venue satisfied with the show.
